Independent Baseball In Full Swing Again

Big League Chew, over 500 million pouches sold since the 1970's

That time of year is in full swing again. Baseball season is here and in Minnesota the weather is just beginning to catch up to the rest of the country in celebrating the snow free joys of Spring.

Friday was a gorgeous day here in Minnesota, the sun couldn't have been a more welcomed sight. Friday also brought the continued pre-season exhibition schedule for the American Association.

For Minnesota Independant baseball, the Saint Paul Saints are on the road. At Newman Outdoor Field the Saints played an exhibition game against the Fargo-Morehead RedHawks today with a 5-4 loss.

The Saints will head back to Midway Stadium in Saint Paul, Minnesota Saturday for an "Umpireless" game against one of their rivals, the Gary SouthShore RailCats hailing from Gary, Indiana. For this exhibition game the players will literally be calling the shots. The umpires will be sitting this one out and the players will be taking on their roles. Should make for some very interesting calls and balls and some big time chew outs between coaches and players. Hang onto your rally caps on Saturday night because not only could there be some hot air exchanged between the players during the game but the predicted wind conditions in Minnesota could blow your cap off.

Game time is 7:35 p.m. CST.
Weather predicted at game time via Weatherbug.com: 53 degrees and mostly sunny with the low for the evening dropping to around 30 degrees. Wind speeds dying down but still gusting to around 20 mph.

If you're going to attend the Saints exhibition game against the RailCats Saturday night you might want to bring a jacket, some hand warmers and a blanket or two to keep warm during the game.

Listen to the Saints regular season games at KLBB 1220 AM or stream them online through the Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network.
